CRC 1660 News

Achim Denig and Hartmut Wittig, both project leaders in CRC 1660, are members of the Steering Committee of the international Muon g–2 Theory Initiative, which coordinates theoretical efforts and key publications such as the widely cited White Paper. Hartmut has been part of the committee for some time, and Achim has recently joined. The initiative plays a central role in interpreting the latest, most precise measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.

First Prize for Monica Sanjinez Ortiz

Monica Sanjinez Ortiz, PhD student in subproject N02 of our CRC 1660, attended the International Summer School on Nuclear Physics La Rábida 2025 in Huelva (Spain) from 16 to 20 June.

She was awarded the prize for the best oral presentation for her talk “α(d, γ)⁶Li cross section from Coulomb break-up experiments: An analysis with a fully dynamical reaction model.”

We warmly congratulate Monica on this well-deserved recognition of her excellent work.

PRISMA++ Selected as Cluster of Excellence

The Cluster of Excellence PRISMA++ – Precision Physics, Fundamental Interactions and Structure of Matter at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz has been selected for continued funding in the second round of the German Excellence Strategy.

The proposal for the renewal was put forward jointly by JGU’s Institute of Physics and Institute of Nuclear Physics, together with the Helmholtz Institute Mainz. The purpose of this cluster is to explore the existence of new physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics.
